8 years of musical theatre magic on the isle of man

About the society

Centre Stage Productions is a musical theatre society based on the Isle of Man. Formed in April 2018 as a subsidiary of the long-established Manx Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Centre Stage was created to present high-quality, non-G&S productions under a fresh new name.

Our debut production, Back to the 80’s, took to the Gaiety Theatre stage in October 2018, running for a total of 7 performances, and was met with great acclaim – earning eight NODA award nominations and two wins. Since then, the society has gone from strength to strength, delivering bold and exciting musical theatre to near sell-out audiences every year.

At the heart of Centre Stage Productions is a commitment to inclusivity, creativity, and community. We welcome performers and backstage volunteers of all experience levels – from seasoned theatre enthusiasts to complete newcomers – and work hard to create a welcoming, supportive environment for all.

As a registered charity (No. 406), our mission is to provide entertainment for the whole family while nurturing local talent both on and off the stage. We aim to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in the performing arts and to build confidence, friendships, and lasting memories through theatre.

Each year, we stage a large-scale musical production at the Gaiety Theatre, typically held in October, with rehearsals taking place over the summer and early autumn months.

In addition to our main-stage work, we also run a variety of educational initiatives. These include children’s theatre workshops, and most recently, we launched a series of adult-only dance workshops, giving participants (whether complete beginners or experienced dancers) the chance to build confidence, enjoy themselves, and improve their performance skills in a supportive setting.

Centre Stage Productions is a proud member of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA), and we have been recognised with multiple awards and nominations both within District 2 and regionally across the North West. Our annual trip to the NODA Awards in Blackpool is a social highlight and a testament to the dedication and talent of our cast, crew, and creative teams.

Whether you’re looking to perform, volunteer, develop your skills, or simply enjoy a fantastic night at the theatre – we invite you to join us and experience what makes Centre Stage Productions so special.

How to Join

At Centre Stage Productions, we aspire to be an open, inclusive and welcoming community for anyone with a passion for theatre - whether that’s onstage, backstage, or behind the scenes.

The most common way to join us is by becoming a Playing Member, which involves auditioning and, if successful, performing in one of our annual musical productions at the Gaiety Theatre. However, we also offer Non-Playing Memberships for those who would like to support the society in a wide range of offstage roles - including backstage crew, front of house, costume, makeup, or general volunteering. No experience is necessary - just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved!

Our community is fortunate to have so many opportunities for all ages to get involved in the arts, whether it be onstage or backstage, and the level of professionalism which we aspire to provides an invaluable wealth of experience to individuals who may wish to seek a professional career in the arts either on island or attending a university abroad.

Joining Centre Stage Productions means becoming part of a diverse, supportive, and passionate network of people who share a love for theatre. Whether it’s onstage or backstage, we encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in theatre.

If you’re interested in getting involved or have any questions, we’d love to hear from you - please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at: centre-stage-productions@outlook.com
