About Centre Stage Productions

Centre Stage Productions is a musical society based in the Isle of Man, founded in April 2018 as a subsidiary company of the long-standing Manx Gilbert and Sullivan Society. The production group was initially set up as an alternate name for when the company plan on performing and producing a non Gilbert and Sullivan show.

We held our first show under the new Centre Stage name, ‘Back to the 80’s!’ at the Isle of Man Gaiety Theatre in October 2018, and received a total of 8 award nominations and 2 wins at the National Operatic and Dramatic Association UK North-West annual award ceremony held in Blackpool.

Our most recent show, performed at the Gaiety Theatre in November 2023 was 'Elf the Musical' - our best-selling show to date. Our next show for October 2024 will be 'School of Rock'.

As a registered charity, Centre Stage Productions aim to provide the island with entertainment for all the family whilst nurturing local talent both on and off the stage. We seek to inspire and enable people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in theatre.

About The Manx Gilbert & Sullivan Society

In September 1987, a group of Gilbert and Sullivan enthusiasts met in Ramsey and formed the Ramsey G&S Society. In 1988 we held our first performance - ‘Trial by Jury’ at Ramsey Grammar School. The event was a great success and it was decided to move to Douglas, rename the society, and aim to put on a production at the Gaiety Theatre.

The first production at the Gaiety took place in 1989. ‘The Mikado’ was to be performed for one night only, and turned out to be a great success considering it was produced on a shoestring, with homemade costumes and scenery.

The society has since grown over the years and has performed most of the Gilbert & Sullivan operettas. Unfortunately Gilbert & Sullivan operettas no longer attract audiences and so the decision was taken to perform other musicals. We did this for the first time with ‘The Merry Widow’ in 2006.

In April 2018, Centre Stage Productions was founded as a subsidiary company of the Manx G&S Society, for when the group perform any non Gilbert and Sullivan shows. We continue to sometimes perform G&S concerts, as well as smaller concerts around the Isle of Man and will consider performing for any charitable concern.

All of our members share a passion and enthusiasm for theatre and can feel part of a diverse and expansive social network of individuals who enjoy the same hobby, and encourage each other to grow and develop as performers and individuals. Sponsorship

As a registered charity, Centre Stage Productions aim to provide the island with entertainment for all the family whilst nurturing local talent both on and off the stage.

The cost of producing a show at the Gaiety Theatre of the high calibre which our Island is accustomed to, would not be attainable without the much valued support of sponsors and patrons.

Choosing to sponsor a major event at the Gaiety Theatre demonstrates a commitment to the cultural and economic development of our island community, as well as promoting awareness of your brand over our 6 month rehearsal period and performance nights.

We are currently open to friendly discussions with any business, whether large or small, who may be interested in sponsoring our October 2024 production of SCHOOL OF ROCK. We have a variety of sponsorship packages available to suit all budgets.

Please feel free to get in touch with us via our Contact page.
